Ermistral,Charles (Thialy)

                               
Charlie Ermistral was born in May of 1937 and has been painting since 1973. He
lives in Kenscoff, a beautiful mountainous area above Petionville. He began
painting in 1973 after having a vision at 2:30 PM in a garden of vegetables.

He was tired, fell asleep and began dreaming. In the dream, he saw himself drawing and when he woke up, that's exactly what he started to do. Having no formal instruction, Ermistral is a true primitive painter. After painting for some time, he started to work with Tiga at Saint Soliel. He signs his work with 'Thaily'.

A healthy and strong individual, Ermistral is a father of four children. His favorite artists include first generation painters Gerald Valcin and Robert St. Brice.
