Simonis Lionel
Paper Mache

For many years, he had been the most creative and competent Papier Mache artist in Haiti.

He was raised in Jacmel, Haiti. He trained with Saint Vil, and was selected in competitions to go to Switzerland and, later, Mexico for exhibitions.

Simonis was a gentle, good-humored person; happy to oblige, but never mercenary, patient, unassuming, and enthusiastic in his work.
