Styles, Schools & Artists: Varieties of Haitian Art |
| Themes in Haitian Art | |
| The subject of Haitian Paintings often centers on daily life, such as the market place and maternity scenes. Many artists also interpret Haitian folklore through animal paintings. However some Haitian artists choose to address more complex themes. The political turmoil that has gripped the country for generations, as well as the amazing history of the tiny nation provide subjects for compelling paintings. Other artists choose to portray their rich spiritual lives through Biblical themes or Voodoo imagery. Recent years have also brought a wave of erotic imagery which rounds out Haitian themes nicely. | |
